The question of the future therefore is, how to replace asphalt at the time of oil depletion. Every technology that could lead to decreasing the use of asphalt is therefore worth the attention. Suitable modification could be beneficial.

Experiments with rubber in asphalt have begun as early as 1902. The development of this modification technology persists and rubberised asphalt matter has slowly become a worldwide hit.

Roads require the biggest amount of oil asphalt. For a long time, the traditional road construction technology had to do with only several of its gradations. However, to operating load keeps increasing and so do the demands. For this reason, many countries have expanded their technologies with the futuristic vision of modifying road asphalt with crumb rubber. This method is discussed at seminars, various experimental sections are being built in the USA as well as in Europe.
