To ensure that recycled rubber meets environmental requirements, it must be produced at a high-quality level – that must be secured by a known and consistent source material as a primary input.
Recycled rubber produced by the company RPG Recycling is exclusively manufactured from end-of-life tires and undergoes strict and thorough quality control. Each tire undergoes an inspection, in order to determine whether it is suitable for producing high-quality granules or not (for instance, due to significant contamination by impurities/other materials, such as steel or aluminium).
At RPG Recycling, it is a standard procedure to take for measurement and monitoring of key properties. These records are securely stored and archived, in case customers inquire about the quality of specific deliveries. RPG Recycling is certified in accordance with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System (certificate available for download below, at the end of the text) and subject to regular audits. Beyond ISO 9001, the company is also certified according to ISO 14001 – the Environmental Management System (certificate available for download below, at the end of the text).
Apart from daily quality control, the company conducts regular testing for the content of selected 8 PAHs. Daily batch samples are homogenized and gradually divided (as per EN 142142) to create a representative sample, which is sent to an accredited laboratory for PAH assessment (the expression and results of PAHs can be found and downloaded at the bottom of the text).
In cases where rubber granules are utilized as raw material for producing products from recycled rubber, which are bonded with polyurethane adhesive, there's an additional fixation of substances contained in the rubber granules from ELT tires. This is because the granules are coated with the adhesive, preventing the extraction of these aromatics onto the surface.
